LOVE/HATE/FEAR...

I've never been much of a scary movie fan. I dig stuff that's suspenseful, but for the most part, I stay away from the stuff that's more hardcore.

However, I LOVE scary books. I'm not sure why...maybe it's safer somehow? Maybe it's the fact that I'm controlling the imagery rather than placing my trust in the hands of some director or special effects person. I'm not sure - I just know I'm a sucker for creepy books.

A lot of you are readers, so I thought I'd ask,

"What's the scariest book you ever read?"

THURSDAY TODD #2

Here's another Todd Wright, thanks to Google Images.

I'm not sure, but I think this guy is a musician because I'm pretty sure I saw him on iTunes.

The question this week is a bit more specific. Namely...could I pull off the baby blue tuxedo shirt? (if they were available in XXL, that is...)

I'd also like to have a recurring question on each of these posts that I'll put here at the bottom:

How long before I get sued by one of these Todds?

Sunday, 3/2/08

At church, we're working on getting our contemporary service up and running for broadcast or download or some such other form of distribution. We're still working out the kinks of taping our service.

I'm not sure if you know this, but it's very hard for most praise teams to sound good on TV. In fact, some of the most skilled teams in the world sound horrible on video. I'm not sure why - I just know it's hard to do.

That's why this version of Robbie Seay's "Tasting Forgiveness" is so impressive. I think my band did a great job. (Unfortunately, our camera guy didn't get any footage of them...maybe next time!) In addition, I think my tech team did a great job of capturing and mixing this. The folks you can't see but who made this one possible are:

Justin Romack - drums
Brad Anderson - bass

Jay Watrous - electric guitar
Kathy Thannisch - piano
April Holder - vocals
Todd - you know what I do.

If You'll Allow Me...

I'd like to take just a minute to gush over all of you fellow bloggers. I love checking out your sites and getting those small (and sometimes frightening) peeks into your heads.

Thanks for consistently stopping by this blog to offer your thoughts. Ain't no party like a comment party, eh? Ya' heard me?

Maybe the big brains are right - maybe there really is some sort of community possible in this online journal thing. Thanks for being a part of my community and letting me part of yours.

3. Fart
4. Larripin' (I believe this a word with origins in East Texas; typically means "good," or "delicious.")
5. Calvin
6. Crap
7. P.R. (I realize this is two words, but I'm not a fan of hearing the abbreviation thrown around carelessly.)

Something Is Wrong With Daniel Rowe

Some of you know that Blake is designing my website. So far, it's been a pretty laid-back process: just me telling him the stuff I like and him looking for cool design options. We're not in a terrible big hurry, so it's cool, right?

Today, I get a phone call from Daniel Rowe, another friend of mine. I have a very similar relationship with Daniel - very laid back, informal and friendly. But I pick up the phone and hear this:

"Todd? Hi, this is Daniel Rowe."

I say hello.

"Listen, I've been asked to come alongside Blake Stewart as he's developing his design business to get ready for upcoming projects. So, what I'd like to do is go ahead and get your site headings and what sort of pictures you'd like on the site."

Okay, I say.

"If you can go ahead and get me that, I'll be happy to forward that over to Blake so we can get right on this project. Now, he's out of the office right now, but I'm assuming I can get that material over to him pretty quickly. Will you be in your office tomorrow, Todd?"

Uh, sure...

"Okay, great. Clay and I will probably stop by. Have a great day, guy."

Imagine Daniel saying this in a voice that landed somewhere between Telemarketer and Used Car Salesman. It was very surreal.

Gotta' go! I've got a BIG meeting with Blake's manager tomorrow...
