SHUFFLE SCARE

I've seen this from time-to-time, but I've never tried it. Clicking "shuffle" in my iTunes is never that fun, simply because I've got songs, recordings of Jonah, loops, song demos, half-finished ideas, etc.

But for the sake of a blog and to see what a 10 song shuffle would say about me, I decided to give it a try!

It offered some pretty interesting tunes. Here are the first 10 songs my iTunes shuffle picked.

1. Taste And See - Paul Baloche

2. Tartuligen - Vasen

3. The Kingdom Of God - Paul Baloche

4. Worry Too Much - Buddy Miller

5. Give Reviving - Chelsey Scott

6. Times Like These - Glen Campbell

7. Where The Streets Have No Name - U2

8. Glorious - Michael Neale

9. You Alone - Michael Gungor Band

10. Long Trip Alone - Dierks Bentley

I had planned to write a cool analytical breakdown of this list showcasing how smart iTunes is.

But as the list grew, I became more and more concerned that my computer knows me on an intimate level and will, one day, kill me in my sleep.

Okay, now it's your turn. Fire up your shuffle (in whatever capacity) and share your list below. Also, what does my list say about me?

Here are the first ten in my shuffle:
1. My Best Friend - Hillsong United
2. Revolve - Nine Days
3. Welcome to the Cruel World - Ben Harper
4. Zingor - Space Ghost
5. Straitjacket Feeling - The All-American Rejects
6. Letting Go - Jeremy Camp
7. Here I Dreamt I was an Architect - The Decemberists
8. Happy Valentine's Day - Outcast
9. Enough - Chris Tomlin
10. The Sweet Escape - Gwen Stefani

It is odd to see all your music smashed up together. And to be honest, I don't recognize half your music. I think our playlists are somewhat a journal of our experiences... I can go back and remember parts of my life based on what pops up,... some high school event, an inside joke with friends, a college experience, all sorts of stuff. I may I have songs I don't enjoy listening to, but there is something sentimental to it to keep me from trashing it.

To be thankful for the ever increasing HD size! to think 200 Gigs just may not be enough.

I'm surprised there is not more strange little pieces of DC*B songs in the list.. Can't believe none of my ZZ Top made the list...is it really random or some mathematical algorithm?? I don't have all I listen to on my itunes because I still listen to more CD's than I do to my ipod. Funny that if I went down just a few spots on the shuffle list there was 3 more Jimmy Buffet tunes right in a row.

1. Track 26 from the CD that comes with African Rhythms for Drumset.
2. Brass in Pocket by the Pretenders.
3. One O'Clock Bump, a play-along jazz track from The Ultimate Play-Along Anthology.
4.Track 35 from NIN's Ghosts.
5. Tumak Chalat Ram Chandre by Chandrakantha Courtney (my tabla teacher's wife).
6. Three-Voice Comping in 8th Notes from the CD that comes with Beyond Bop Drumming.
7. Any Way You Want It by Journey.
8. Walk Like an Egyptian by the Bangles.
9. The Great Destroyer by Nine Inch Nails.
10. A speech by Al Mohler.

Weird. I only have a few drumming CDs in my iTunes, but three of them came up. And what's with the 80s stuff? My massive amount of prog-rock didn't even represent. I'd expect way more sermons or podcasts too.

New iTunes tool, "Genius" gave me this (the top 10):

1. What about now (acoustic) - Daughtry
2. True (live) - Ryan Cabrera
3. Someday - Nickelback
4. The Mixed Tape - Jack's Mannequin
5. December - Collective Soul
6. Heaven - Live
7. Plush - STP
8. I Don't Want to Be (live) - Gavin DeGraw
9. In Your Eyes - Jeffrey Gaines
10. Gravedigger - Dave Matthews

"Genius" puts together playlists based on a selection, so music is grouped together, so this isn't a true "shuffle"
