In 2010, we started a thing at Bethel called Bethel Institute. It was a simple idea: bring in leading experts in theology, Biblical application, Christian teaching. etc., and let those experts pour wisdom into our people.
So far, we've had classes on why theology is important, how to study the Bible and understanding the Trinity, and they've been excellent events. But I think I'm probably most excited about our next one.
On Saturday, May 14, we're bringing in Dr. Douglas Blount to Bethel to discuss the problem of evil in the world.
It seems like a timely topic, but the truth is that it always has been. The question of "why bad things happen" has been a major aspect of all human existence. At Bethel, we believe that peace and hope can found through God's Word and we think Dr. Blount is just the man to teach it!
A few weeks ago, Jayson Chandler and I went to Dallas to meet Dr. Blount and to shoot some video that we could share with our people. It was a great interview.
I don't care if you're a Bethelite or not. I'm betting that you or someone you know is dealing with this very question - how can a good God allow evil? And because of that, I'm inviting you to be a part of Bethel Institute: Unshakable. You'll find encouragement and pastoral care and you'll be equipped to deal with these hard questions.
It's a morning and afternoon session at our campus with lunch provided. There's lots of Q & A and hey...you'll get to hang out with me!
