2/6/11 @ Bethel Bible Church

Didn't do mid-week rehearsal, but by now, the team is pretty skilled at learning stuff on the fly. Of course, we'd prefer the Thursday practice, but sometimes you gotta' improvise, man!

JOYFUL (D)
We taught this Brenton Brown adaptation back in December and it's still a strong tune for us. Didn't have keys/organ this Sunday, so we might have been a bit smaller than normal, but the band did a great job. Our pianist, Elizabeth, plays an amazing Coldplay-tinged piano part in the bridge. Brenton would dig it!

COME AND WELCOME (A)

Taught this Indelible Grace tune last week and it got a great response. Brought it back this week and it felt even better. We were a little fast in the pre-service run through, but it evened out by church time and grooved nicely. We've yet to play with a full team, but I think we got pretty close to what our standard team would do on it. Definitely a keeper.

THE NAME (G)

This Aaron Ivey tune is great all on it's own and it's worked consistently at Bethel. My only regret is putting it in the song #3 spot. I should have done "Pass It On" first and then this tune. Made the overall energy kinda' weird. I don't think we rocked this one as hard as previous times - it felt a little dull today.

PASS IT ON (G)

Haven't done this one in awhile. The musicians love the jazzy flavor of this one and it was a perfect tune to play with Elizabeth back on piano. Hate to harp on it, but I felt the absence of B3 on it. However, it came off well.

HALLELUJAH, WHAT A SAVIOR (A)

First time to do this one. It went great - lot of congregational singing. I think it suffered from the no-practice, though. Couple of transitions felt a little messy and I think we can do it with more power. (All relative, I guess.) I like the CD arrangement, but it may be a little long. We're bringing it back next week and may change it up a bit.

I've been humming & singing "Hallelujah What a Savior" all day long!
