You know, I bet "Fireproof" is actually a good movie. It's the Christian-Marketing-Machine that drives me nuts.
I can't say for sure, but if I was a film-maker, I don't know if I'd want something 'picked up' and pushed into the American church culture the way it's happened with this movie. I think I'd rather just make a good movie, get it seen and let it do what it's going to do.
But, I don't know...maybe that's a pipe dream. Maybe it really is impossible for people of faith just to make good movies and get them in theaters. Maybe Hollywood really IS that hostile toward faith.
i've already seen fireproof. it's good. if you are truly spiritual, that's what you will go see. if you are truly todd, you'll see eagle eye. you know what you should do.
as to the marketing machine, lot's of good movies are made and never seen because they are not marketed. through the church is a relatively inexpensive way to market this. additionally, this movie could be helpful to some people. who better to incorporate into this than the church?

I've seen Fireproof ... watched it with the radio station staff several weeks ago. It's a piece. But I can't say that on-air.
