1. When you attend a worship event – church service, camp, concert, retreat, etc. – do enjoy cover tunes better when they sound just like the CD version? Or do you like to hear a team put their own spin on it?
2. As a worship leader, do you like for your stuff to sound as much like the CD as possible? Why or why not?

I have a blog now..."for the love of pete!" Check it out!
Wonder how long this one will last? Haha!
Ok, so I have been thinking about this. I have lead worship in both capacities...one instance where we were creative and added our own touches to the song, while still being respectful and mindful of the original arrangment. I've also been in a team where the leader is very particular about keeping to the CD arrangment. I will say, alot of teams set there sights too high at the CD version. Not all teams are blessed with members of extreme musical profeciancy. There are aspects of a song that I (with my team) like to re-create, i.e.: the tempo of the song, the cadence of the lyrics, and some arrangement. I know that my team would get very frustrated of falling short of that CD version and really, that's not necessarily our goal as a team. Whatever route you chose, the mindset behind the music needs to be giving glory to God, and if that's accomplished simply by "matching" the CD, then amen.
