“The church has, first, the greatest distribution channel in the world. I could take you to a million villages that don’t have a school, a business, a clinic, a fire department, a post office, but they do have a church. What if you could network those churches to do not just spiritual care, but health care, business development, education?”

What are your thoughts on this quote?

Sounds like a happy world but it also sounds like someone is wanting the world to look like the church. The world will never look like the church. That is why it is called "the world" and we are called "the church".

hello todd,

i havent talked to you in quite a while. a friend sent me here to give my 2 cents. maybe you remember the time we spent together playing dj when you babysat for ben stokes and i. you shouldnt feel old. im only 23 now.

there is alot to be said about this topic. much of which i won't get into right now.

i like what this quote points to. when it comes to missiology, the church must be the arbiter of goodness at its very core. in other words, the reason behind the networking of these churches located in villages makes good health care, education, and the opportunity to proved for your family possible and available. i think this is good. simple enough.

i fear that we have lost sight of the idea that following jesus is not merely about getting into heaven. it's also about making the world a better place. notice that i didnt say it was about making the world a "christian place" in that we create churches that have good christian education, christian health care, and christian capitalism. the very mission of the church is to bring hope to the places where there is none.

if you and i truly believe that following Jesus is the best possible way to live (and i mean this in them ost humble way possible) then we are mandated to live in such a way that we make things like education, health care, and the opportunity to provide for your family possible and available in the places where it was not.

what is this from?

ill be in internet darkness for the the next couple weeks when i go home for the holidays, so i may not be able to stay up to date on the conversation.

jared.
