RENTAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Ross recommended this one to us a good while back, and we finally got around to renting it for Jonah. It was so good. I'm growing continually frustrated hearing folks tell me that some new kids movie has "grown up humor." I don't rent animated movies for grown-up humor, okay? I rent them for kid humor. So my kids will laugh and have fun and maybe learn a lesson or two. Meet the Robinsons was just plain funny - my six-year old laughed and so did my twenty-two year old wife. If you haven't seen it, you should. It's worth the money and dare I say better than some of the more recent stuff by Pixar and the like.

You may not know this about me, but I love Westerns. Movies, books, mini-series, TV shows...I love it. So, when a Western comes out, I'm already in. 'Course, you throw in Christian Bale (who's turning out to be one heck of an actor) and Russell Crowe (who's really pretty good in everything) and I'm even more excited. Not only was this a good, action-packed story line, it really said some cool things about courage and family and sacrifice.

I liked 3:10 To Yuma, but it wasn't that great. A bit overrated. If you want a REALLY GOOD Western then you should watch "Open Range". Thats authentic.

Christian Bale has become one of my favorites...you need to watch "The Prestige".

We saw both these movies in the theater, and they were both great.

Both "Open Range" and "The Prestige" are quite good.

Although, I buy into the storyline of "3:10" a bit more than "Open Range."

On the off chance that anyone cares, "Meet the Robinsons" is in my "best movies about adoption" list. It's a short list, but if you're into that, it could be of value to you.

Also, "3:10..." was awesome, and so was "Open Range."
