Hey, I'm really excited about this film that's just come out.
...
Apparently, it's about a young, idealistic teacher who encounters and rough and tumble scrabble of inner-city kids who have no future.
...
Then, through the power of belief and education, the kids find themselves fighting their way back to hope.
...
What a fresh idea! What will Hollywood think of next?
...
You know what would be really cool? To take this idea and put it in an athletic context. (Maybe a football/basketball coach tasked to head up a losing-streak team filled all sorts of interpersonal/financial/cultural struggle?)
...
Just an idea...

Athletics.... no way. The angle is dance. A dance teacher with a checkered past comes to an inner city high school and turns a bunch of poppin' and lockin' thugs into happy, well adjusted ball room maniacs. Wait... that one is way too "out there".
Maybe just another Rocky.

Man, I wish I knew somebody who wrote screenplays...LANCE
Dance would never work, it would have to be music - How about a Las Vegas headliner becomes a nun and saves a catholic school from shutting it's doors forever by transforming a troubled music class into an all state choir...
I would call it, "The Nun Who Saved a Catholic School From Closing It's Doors Forever by Transforming a Troubled Music Class into an All State Choir..." or "Rocky 9"
Yes, yes…Music, that’s the key. Bring an old guy in to revive a failing musical system and show the kids just how much music can inspire the crowd and ultimately themselves. Even have a virtuoso or two emerge from solitude and denial. Because we all know that you can only be a good instrumentalist if you must come from a broken family and live south of the railroad tracks.
Dang, I hate Hollywood.
Rocky? How can this movie be compared to Rocky? It's based on a true story. How amazing is it that she was able to take 150 students in the inner city and get them to process their feelings and emotions about the horrors they've seen and experienced.
This teacher didn't fight against some false enemy, i.e. a football team or a dance team. She fought against the ignorance and complacency that are keeping kids from ever getting out of the projects.
Maybe I'm just a sap.
I've got it. You cast Michelle Pfifer...yeah that would be awesome. Lots of people would watch that. You can even put her in a music video with Coolio! oh man that's so great. Nobody take that idea. that's mine!
Ah, Rachel...standing alone against the onslaught of sarcasm.
Come on, Rach: we all get that it's a good story, but isn't it just the SAME story?
