I love capos. I'm not one of those guys who gets all high and mighty about it. I like playing with a capo. And, get this, I like playing with cut capos. (Not just the Billy Foote kind, either.) I like all the different voicings that can be acheived through the use of creative capo-ing. However, I have to say this . . .

If I see a worship leader walk on stage to sound check/play around and he or she puts on the traditional cut capo (Foote) right off the bat, I immediately know that the worship leader's not that good.

Sorry, but that's the way it is. Anybody wanna' holler about that?

could just be bored and looking for something new. But for the most part Song #1 does not need to be Cut Capo... I agree

I think the cut (Foote) capo has become very much a crutch for many worship leaders. I mean, it's great for certain purposes...but not for EVERY single thing you do. But Crowder's tunings will probably be the same way one of these days.

You guys sound like capo snobs! Just joking!:) I don't know what a capo is, what it does, or where you put it. I just wanted my voice to be heard.

Come on guys... I know each of you were amazed for days the first time you played around with the Cut Capo. I was I admit. I still like it! Have we come so far that we've forgotten where were from?

Billy Foote is to the Cut Capo what Peter Frampton is to the Talk Box. Years from now our children will rediscover the cut capo and we will just gleen in aproval over their new-found discovery.

Long live the Cut Capo!

Sounds to me like Rob is waffling a bit.

But, let me be clear - if your first song in in cut capo, no problem! I'm talking about the guys who grab it right off.

Guys that I know that stick w/ cut capo most of the time can't really play. (John Sherrill)

What? Did somebody say John Sherrill?

It's also funny that a blog about capos prompted more than half the comments that the dorito one did.

I will gleen in my children's musical endeavors whatsoever....as long as they're not a drummer. No offense Justin and Blake....but geez, the banging.....oh the humanity!!!

And I hope she becomes a big Dream Theater fan and drums on everything. Then, starts calling herself Hope Portnoy....man...you asked for it!

I say any more than one cut capo song per set is grounds for dismissal.

Two may be played in a weekend retreat spanning more than 1 day.

At the moment the third infraction becomes obvious... the onlookers are allowed to bum-rush the stage and remove you from the premises.

todd, i think you discovered the discussion to end all discussions. i think you should retire from blogging while you're on top of the world with over a dozen comments to one post. incredible!

I'll agree on the hopes of being a big Dream Theater fan...she can be the next Petrucci and be able to show me up one day for all I care. Portnoy or Petrucci, at least they've both gotten haircuts from the olden days.

Does John Petrucci use a capo? Ummmm, no...

LOL! Hey - I am a musician and worship leader, too, dude...and I pop over here from time to time to see if you responded to my response to your response to my post...and to see if there is any cool topics going on.

Either way - looks like you have a cool ministry.

Blessings,
